Authorship Criteria

1. Authorship Eligibility

The Strada Journal of Radiograpghy is committed to ensuring fair, transparent, and responsible attribution of authorship in scholarly publications. Authorship must reflect substantial intellectual contributions to the research and a willingness to accept responsibility and accountability for the integrity of the published work.

SJR adopts the authorship criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). To qualify as an author, each individual must meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Make substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
  2. Manuscript Preparation and Critical Review: Participate in drafting the manuscript or reviewing it critically for important intellectual content.
  3. Final Approval: Approve the final version of the manuscript to be published.
  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions relating to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All individuals designated as authors must meet all four criteria. Contributors who meet the first criterion must be given the opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation or critical review and to approve the final version. Authorship must not be granted solely on the basis of seniority, academic position, institutional affiliation, or professional relationships.

  1. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the SJR editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that:

  • All listed authors have made appropriate contributions and meet the authorship criteria.
  • All authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript submitted to the journal.
  • All authors agree to the author list and the order in which their names appear.
  • The manuscript is submitted with accurate author names, institutional affiliations, and contact information.
  • All relevant declarations, including conflicts of interest, funding sources, ethical approval, and other required statements, are accurately provided.
  • All authors are informed of editorial decisions and substantive changes to the manuscript.
  • Any concerns regarding research integrity, authorship, or the accuracy of the submitted work are addressed transparently.

The corresponding author must obtain confirmation from all co-authors before submission and must not include or remove an author without the agreement of the individuals concerned and compliance with the journal's authorship-change policy.

  1. Contributors Who Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Individuals who contribute to a manuscript but do not meet all four authorship criteria must not be listed as authors. However, their contributions may be appropriately acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, with their permission.

Examples of contributions that, on their own, do not justify authorship include:

  • Providing funding or administrative support.
  • General supervision of a research group.
  • Providing access to research facilities, participants, or study locations without substantial intellectual contribution.
  • Collecting data or performing routine technical procedures without additional qualifying intellectual contributions.
  • Providing language editing, proofreading, formatting, or other technical assistance.

These activities may be part of a qualifying author's overall contribution, but they do not independently establish authorship eligibility.

  1. Unethical Authorship Practices

SJR does not permit unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Gift or Guest Authorship: Listing individuals who have not made qualifying contributions to the research.
  • Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who have made substantial contributions and meet the authorship criteria.
  • Honorary Authorship: Granting authorship based solely on academic rank, seniority, professional position, or personal relationships.
  • Undisclosed Authorship Changes: Adding, removing, or rearranging authors without appropriate agreement and notification to the journal.
  • Misrepresentation of Contributions: Providing false or misleading information regarding an author's role in the research or manuscript preparation.

Any suspected authorship misconduct may be investigated in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies. Where necessary, SJR may request clarification, supporting documentation, or an institutional investigation before making an editorial decision.

  1. Author Order and Changes in Authorship

The order of authors must be determined collectively by all authors based on their respective contributions and mutual agreement. SJR does not prescribe a universal ranking system for author order, and the first author, corresponding author, and senior author roles should be agreed upon by the author group before submission.

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be supported by a clear justification and written agreement from all affected authors, including those being added or removed. Such requests are subject to editorial review and approval. Changes after publication will be handled in accordance with applicable publication ethics standards and the journal's correction procedures.

  1. Author Contributions Statement

SJR encourages authors to provide a transparent statement describing each author's contribution to the manuscript. Where applicable, authors may use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to identify individual contributions, such as conceptualization, methodology, data curation, formal analysis, investigation, writing—original draft, writing—review and editing, supervision, project administration, and funding acquisition.

The contribution statement must accurately reflect the work performed by each author. The use of a contributorship taxonomy does not replace the requirement that every listed author satisfy all four authorship criteria.

  1. Declaration of Authorship

By submitting a manuscript to SJR, the corresponding author confirms that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship requirements, have approved the submitted version, and agree to take responsibility for the integrity of the work. All authors are expected to cooperate in addressing questions or concerns raised during editorial assessment, peer review, or after publication.

SJR reserves the right to request additional information regarding authorship and contributorship when necessary to uphold publication ethics and research integrity.
